1. Wow! Long time no post, huh? I really don't have any excuse either. Just busy with the daily things that back to school brings. That, AND Steven was home from Iraq on 2 weeks R&R. Woo hoo! :) It was so good to spend time with him and, of course, laugh with him. He left Sunday and I miss him already. He'll be back from Iraq in December. Can't wait!
2. I wish I could post about how awesome my Sooners are doing so far this season. They did win Saturday 64-0. We won't discuss who their opponent was or what division they're in. Ha! We also won't discuss that debacle the previous Saturday when they lost to BYU and our Heisman winning quarterback went down with a shoulder injury. I still love 'em though! Boomer Sooner!
3. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that Steven and James went to Dallas to watch the OU/BYU game. (The game was played at a neutral sight- the new Cowboys stadium.) That means that the last two times the Sooners played in Dallas (against Texas and now BYU), they should have won and they lost. And the boys were there. Coincidence? Sure. But just to be safe, they aren't allowed to go to Dallas to watch the Sooners play EVER AGAIN!
4. Samuel Cade lost his front tooth yesterday. He looks so stinkin' cute with his toothless grin. I'll post a pic tomorrow. As cute as he is, it makes me a little sad. It's just one more thing that makes him more of a big kid. Where did my baby go? *sniff* He's hoping the tooth fairy brings him enough money to buy the Space Police Lego set he wants. It's $7. Ha! I told him I'm pretty sure the tooth fairy will think $7 is a little steep for one tooth.
5. Both kids had their first soccer game Saturday. Samuel's team, the Rockets, won. He scored his first goal ever- and the team's first goal of the season. It was so fun to watch. Sissy's team on the other hand, the Blue Inferno, got their rear ends kicked. It was not so much fun to watch. :-/
6. Our little dog, Molly, gave me a scare Sunday. The kids and I were in and out of the house all weekend because we spent the majority of it at Mom's with Steven. Every time I popped in, though, I noticed that Molly acted like she didn't feel well. Sunday I was finally home and it was very apparent that she was sick. She wouldn't eat or drink and was very weak. Then late Sunday she had two seizures. I was really afraid she wouldn't make to the next morning when I could get her to the vet. She did, though, and I had her at the animal hospital at 7 a.m. The vet called a few hours later and asked if she'd eaten anything strange lately because she had some bleeding in her upper digestive tract. I remembered that she chewed up a little wooden car of Samuel's. He said that that was probably it. She must have swallowed a piece of the wooden car. She had gotten an infection and was dangerously dehydrated. After some iv fluids and antibiotics and a $216 bill (yikes!), she's doing much, much better today.
7. Ash is in band at school this year and gets to play the bass guitar! So cool! We never had a guitar in the band when I was in school. Bless her heart, though, that guitar is nearly as tall as she is. It's almost comical when I pick her up at school and see her hauling that guitar out and then I see the girls next to her holding their little flute cases. That's ok Ashlynn! You rock on with your guitar!
8. James found out yesterday that he will be either Valedictorian or Salutatorian of his college class. (Which one he'll be depends on one other guy.) I'm so proud of him! Can I get a "Woot! Woot!"?
9. The new season of Project Runway, my fave show, has begun. Can I get a "Woot! Woot!"?
Ok. I should change that. Project Runway being on again isn't nearly as cool as being Valedictorian of your college class. How 'bout- Can I get a "Yee Haw!"? (Yes, "Yee Haw!" I'm from Oklahoma people!)
10. Let's see.... #10? Oh, I almost forgot. Steven went to Frankfort, Germany on his way home from Iraq. While he was there he bought me some German Haribo gummi bears. (Yep. I was so excited I took a picture of them!) I LOVED these when we lived in Germany and they were every bit as good as I remembered. Yummmm. The Haribo version you find in the states isn't the same- the flavors are different and the texture is somehow different too.
Thanks again Bub! And if you happen to be in Frankfort on your way home in December it would make me really happy to open up some German gummis at Christmas! :)
Have a great week!
